Professor Richard Tsang has since 2009 been researching and developing a unique music education approach (Creative Musicking) which aims at reintroducing the joy and spontaneity of improvisation back to the classical concert music tradition where this art has been lost. This concert showcases how such approach can produce stimulating and enjoying musical performance in the hands of professional musicians (the Concert) while the same approach with different repertoires could effectively engage the general public of novice musicians as well (the Demo-concert-workshop). Music teachers and musicians may benefit from exposure to the Creative Musicking approach in re-emphasizing creativity and spontaneous improvisation in their teaching, allowing their students to retain the sense of joy, wonder and awe - as we all did - in their first encounter with music.
